What Separates "Healed People Heal People"?
“The Reunion” – Having made a feature film about the effects of childhood bullying, I carry a unique perspective into my speaking engagements. First off, students are often excited and engaged by movies and this provides and enticing “hook” that most programs don’t offer.
I’m a teacher – My background is not in public speaking or therapy or research. I’ve been IN THE CLASSROOM with students of all ages off and on for 20 years (9 years full time)! I’ve seen the problems and I’ve created solutions.
The Curriculum – I don’t show up for an hour, drop some pearls of wisdom and then leave. I provide you with a pre-presentation and post-presentation curriculum that teachers can implement in the classroom. Change doesn’t happen overnight. Change comes through intentional practice, day in and day out. The “Healed People Heal People” Curriculum will provide teachers with the principles and activities that will create an environment of safety, communication and collaboration that is the antidote to bullying.
It’s Interactive! – This is not your typical “know it all” speaker who’s going to come to your school and bore your students with a bunch of facts or stand on a high horse and tell you what you should do! I recognize that EVERYONE has something to share and, as such, I want as many people to share as possible – students, staff, admin, teachers and parents. I want to hear YOUR stories. And I want this to be fun and engaging. Kids and adults alike get to come “on stage” and perform improvisations that will mirror bullying scenarios we’ve all witnessed, as well as, and more importantly, create scenarios that will provide SOLUTIONS to the challenges that kids and adults face.
